Improving Physical Education

Dr. Amy Woods is interested in issues related to teaching and teacher education, particularly focusing on physical education, children’s wellness, and the scholarship of teaching and learning. She has an impressive history of professional service in this area, having served as Chair of the Curriculum and Instruction within the Research Consortium of the Academy of the American Alliance for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance (AAHPERD). She also is the editor of the Consortium’s journal, Physical Activity Today.  In addition, Dr. Woods co-authored guidelines for quality middle school physical education and for undergraduate physical education teacher education as a writing team member for the National Association for Sport and Physical Education.
