Mentoring in the Public School System

Professor Edward McAuley is part of the One-To-One Mentoring Program that operates in the Champaign-Urbana Public School system and is funded by the community partner Mentoring Scholarship Foundation. This is his second year of involvement and he meets once a week with his mentee (currently in 4th grade) on school property. The University of Illinois is one of the many employers in the area that allows employees one hour a week to engage in the mentoring process. The commitment is for a minimum of a year but the goal is for mentors to continue with their mentee through graduation from high school.
